Banding on Prints with CS3 and Mac OS 10.4.11

From a flawless screen image my new Epson Stylus Photo 1400 prints 1-inch horizontal bands across the prints. There are subtle shade/color differences from band to band. There is a single black line printed about a quarter of an inch from the bottom of the print. The banding and black line appear on different images. No banding occurs when a print is made from another Mac application. An update for 10.0.1 version of CS3 had been applied.
